The PTO is proud to offer a variety of FCPS approved vendor enrichment programs held at Spring Hill Elementary.  

Winter Registration for Vendor OSA is OPEN from Thursday, December 6th through Friday, January 4th.  Don’t wait, register early!  Class size is limited.

There is NO registration fee for Spring Hill PTO members. Non-members may register for an additional $8 fee per class. You must be a PTO member prior to registering for OSA to receive the member price for classes.

This Karate program offers safe, structured training that teaches students the proper form, style and technique. Classes are tailored to student’s individual needs and help them to grow to their fullest potential. Karate not only focuses on instruction, but also provides valuable lessons related to respect, discipline, motivation, self-control, confidence and continual improvement.

Yoga

This class is for kids in grades K-5 develops focus, flexibility, strength, and coordination through a variety of yoga poses, stories, music, sing a longs, drawings and games. These classes enhance energy while teaching children how to remain calm and centered. Children learn basic yoga movements in a fun, relaxed setting, which always promotes doing their personal best in a non-competitive environment. *Only item needed is a yoga mat/towel, but children can participate without one*

Ultimate Dance Fitness

Kids in grades K-5 will follow along with the teacher to songs and dances, use finger lights to create a glow in the dark theme for part of the class, plays games that include limbo sticks, balloons, parachutes, pom poms, freeze dance, 4 corners dance style, balloon relay races, Congo line dancing, and more! This ultimate fun fitness class uses kid friendly music and combines parts of our Zumba and glow light dance party classes and adds even more fun and games to the mix.

All classes will have a focused character lesson (about 5 minutes). A coach will gather kids together and read a character trait definition and lead a short discussion. Character traits that could be discussed are perseverance, integrity, courage, respect, responsibility, kindness, patience, contentment, humility, gratitude, and joy.

Ultimate P.E. Games

Class Description:  Do you want to play in the MOST FUN games kids experience in PE class?  If yes, this session is for you! A sampling of games to be played are Nerf Dodge Ball, Dome Ball, Capture the Flag, parachute activities, Omni – kin Ball, and numerous tag games that require strategy and a willingness to have intense joy! The action-packed session ensures kid movement does not stop until it is time to go home!  Kids quickly and often move from one exciting game to the next! Great exercise is guaranteed as kids play in these classic and modern PE games!

Flag Football/Nerf Dodgeball

Class Description: Combination of both Flag Football Frenzy and Dynamite Nerf Dodgeball.

  • Flag Football Frenzy: Any season is football season in America! Participants will work on the overhand throw, catching, and play in thrilling games! To prepare for games, participants will practice basic offensive routes and defensive coverages. Early elementary kids will enjoy fun lead up games like scarf tag! The plan is for participants to experience a NFL playoff style tournament with a Super Bowl!!
  • Dynamite Nerf Dodgeball: Experience the exciting thrill of playing different kinds of Nerf Dodgeball games! Kids will enjoy the Classic game, Army Dodgeball, Medic, Pin Dodgeball, Four Quadrants, Gauntlet, Pokémon, and more! Coaches will ensure all kids will have a safe and enjoyable experience. The dodgeballs used in this class are very soft. There are many benefits to playing dodgeball: throwing and catching while moving, dodging, communication, integrity, teamwork, sportsmanship, and tons of FUN!

Robotics Workouts

Stemtree Engineering program uses the wonder and genius of robots to inspire students to learn engineering, apply their knowledge and skills of basic science, model construction, computer programming, and problem solving to explore STEM concepts. This is both a perfect introduction to the world of robotics for younger students and an opportunity to expand the knowledge base of older students.

Coding Workouts

We teach students how to create and develop computer programs (games, stories, etc.) instead of playing them. Students will learn the computer programming concepts in a fun and interactive way. They will combine media elements to create and share their own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art.

Electricity & Electronics Workouts: Building Your Own Circuit

The Electricity and Electronics after-school program brings together a wide range of concepts ranging from electricity to electronics. Children are fascinated by lights and sounds but little do they know about circuits and electronics behind them. We make it easy for children to learn with practical hands-on activities and experiments. Not only are these activities fun, safe, and easy; they will introduce children to the field of engineering and inspire them to become tomorrow’s problem solvers.

Steam Kidz Lab (aka Curiosity Zone) SteamKidz

Magic Science

Kids will enter our Astronaut Training Academy and prepare for a manned mission to Mars. Each class features both hands on science activities and a Lego building activity to explore space travel, rockets, animals in space, robots, space weather, planetary geology, stars and lots more. Class ends with an astronaut picnic on our Martian colony!

Engineering Mania – Mechanics

For a child who likes to think outside the box and build various contraptions, this is the perfect class! The Little Engineers will utilize their creativity, out of box thinking to build and test various structures such as bridges, platforms, ramps, etc. using a variety of materials. In each class session, there will be a challenge to build a structure using different materials and material constraints.
